Personal Care Services
Compassionate help with daily living, so you or your loved ones can stay independent and at home with dignity.

What is Personal Care?
Personal care is hands-on help with the activities of daily living, things like bathing, dressing, and moving safely around the home.
Our trained caregivers step in where age, illness, injury, or disability has made the day harder than it used to be.
Accepting help can feel vulnerable. Our caregivers are trained for that, not just the tasks.
We work at your pace, respect your preferences, and protect your privacy at every step.

“The right caregiver does not feel like a service. They feel like a familiar face at the door.”

A Day With a Personal Care Aide
No two clients are the same, but most days follow a similar rhythm. A caregiver greets you in the morning, checks in on how the night went, and helps with bathing, grooming, dressing, and breakfast.
Medications are offered on schedule and anything off is noted.
Midday is for a walk if it is a good day, gentle exercises, light housekeeping, laundry, lunch, and the things that matter, whether that is a crossword, a phone call with a grandchild, or a nap in the sun.
The afternoon handles errands, appointments, dinner prep, and getting ready for bed safely. Before leaving, the caregiver writes a short update for the family and the next caregiver.
How We Match Caregivers to Clients
A great caregiver on paper is not always the right caregiver for your parent. We pay attention to personality, language, life experience, and the small things that make someone feel comfortable in their own home.
Language preferences and cultural background
Personality fit, from quiet and steady to warm and chatty
Specific skills the situation calls for, like dementia or Parkinson's
Schedule reliability so the same small team is at the door each week
Pet-friendly caregivers when there is a beloved animal in the home
If a match is not working, we change it. No awkward conversation, no questions asked.

Personal Care: Frequently Asked Questions
Practical answers to the questions families ask most often before starting personal care at home.
What is personal care at home?
Personal care is hands-on help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and meals, delivered in a person's own home. It is for people who want to stay independent but need a little (or a lot) of help getting through the day safely.
Who provides personal care, and are they trained?
Care is delivered by trained Personal Support Workers and Health Care Assistants. Every caregiver is screened with a criminal record check, reference verification, and skills assessment, and they receive ongoing training in dignity, privacy, infection control, and safe transfers.
How is a personal care plan created?
We start with a free in-home assessment. A care coordinator meets with you and your family, walks through the home, and learns the routines and preferences that matter. From that visit we build a written plan with the tasks, timing, and caregiver match that fits your life.
Will I get the same caregiver every visit?
We aim for consistency because trust is built through familiar faces. Most clients have a small primary team of one to three caregivers who rotate based on the schedule, with backup caregivers introduced ahead of time so there are no strangers at the door.
How much does personal care cost in BC?
Cost depends on the hours per week and the level of care. Pricing is hourly, with lower rates for live-in and 24-hour blocks. We provide a clear, written quote during the free assessment, and there are no contracts or cancellation fees.
Can personal care be covered by insurance or VAC?
Yes, in many cases. Extended health benefits, long-term care insurance, ICBC claims, WorkSafeBC claims, and Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) all commonly cover home care. We help you understand what your plan covers and we can bill some funders directly.
Can you help with bathing if my parent refuses help?
This is one of the most common challenges, and our caregivers are trained for it. We start slowly, build trust, and adapt the routine to what feels safe. Many clients who initially refused help are bathing comfortably with a caregiver within a few visits.
What is the minimum number of hours per visit?
Our standard minimum is two hours per visit, which gives the caregiver time to do the work properly without rushing. We also offer longer shifts, overnight care, live-in care, and 24-hour care for higher-need situations.
How quickly can personal care start?
For most situations we can have a caregiver in the home within 24 to 48 hours. Urgent same-day starts are often possible after a hospital discharge or sudden change at home. Call us at +1 (236) 499-9919 and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
